April Reading Recap

This was a great month for reading. Some of my favorite books came out this month, and next month will be hard-pressed to live up to this lineup.

________
Right out of the gate, I offer you "Bad Words" by Ríoghnach Robinson.
I finished this book and made a ridiculous TikTok immediately after. You can find it here and, honestly, two weeks later, I stand by it all. This is an arc read (advanced reader copy) and will come out in October 2026...so...sorry?
BUT ERMERGERSH.
This. THIS is what contemporary romance should be. It was witty, pretentious because these characters demanded that it be so, and had a Nora Ephron-worthy tie-up at the end. I loved it.
Five stars!

I actually listened to this on audiobook because the narrator is one of my all-time favorites: Patti Murin. She played Elsa on Broadway, and her voice is so....good. She captures these quirky characters and makes them human. A few months ago, I borrowed an audiobook from the library because she was the narrator, and I realized halfway through that the only reason I liked the story was because of her. She's just so good.
Now, Courtney's story didn't need the Patti-fairy-dust to make it spectacular. It already was on its own. The narration simply complemented an already great story. It's clean, funny, and well worth your time to take a look.
Five stars!

I'm late-ish to the game in reading this series, but I have enjoyed almost all of the books in it. Love, Theoretically, is a contemporary rom-com, but make it STEM. Tack on a well-written and compelling storyline with swoony characters, and you have it down. I
Five stars, for sure.
This series was one big millennial nostalgia trip....with the added flair of being set in Ireland. It's dramatic and teenage angsty, but goodness...I was sucked in.
Book two of the Boys of Tommen series...did I say I devoured these? Again, these are vibes reads to the max. If you're more of the fine literature-minded, I would take a pass...but if you're a feral, bored millennial mom...give these a try :)
This was a reread for me, and I enjoyed it even more the second time. Book two just came out, so if you haven't picked up this epic romantasy, now's the time because the duology is complete...I haven't read book two yet. I'm nervous.

And that about covers April reading. Have you read any of these books? Have one I should add to by TBR stack?
